Intuitive PHP for the caffeinated.

About

These are always so hard to write, but I figure that if anyone knows who I am, it’s me. I could say that it all started in Monroe, Louisiana at about 1:20am on the side of the highway where I took my first breathe. I think I have always been in a hurry, which makes me glad I have so much technology available to me today. I am pretty much a multi tasking geek. I spend my time in my home office staring at two monitors(which i need to add a couple more mind you) working on one screen and browsing the web on the other. Usually listening to the TV in the background along with techno music drifting through the headphones. This is what I do.

Passion

I love to program, I’ve been doing it for over eight years now. I could technically say i have been doing it for well over eleven years but who uses QBasic anymore right? My favorite programming language is PHP, and has been for the last six years. I make up my own mini projects just so i can play around with it when I am not working on a project for money or class. I feel that there isn’t anything that I can not program in PHP, there has to be a way. Enough about that, or I’ll have to buy a pocket protector.

Play

I love to game, and I have been into computer games for the last ten years. It started out with some crazy 8bit games, then technology took a jump(thank god). Way back before Microsoft bought out Bungie Studios they had developed and supported a game called Myth: The Fallen Lords. This game was the greatest, it had lots of units for me to control, explosions, blood, real life physics, and best part is that it was an online multi-player game. I hooked up with some people in a group called the µDogs and we gamed till early morning seven days a week. After that game I played a shooter called Urban Terror, which was a Quake3 mod. That was another great game, it was my first real shooter and I was pretty good at it. I tend to hop on there from time to time just to say hey. After Urban Terror I took a break from gaming(very short break), and with the help of a good friend I opened a LAN party store just south of the Twin Cities. This store was any geeks wet dream, with four big screen HD-TVs and fifteen high powered, dripping with speed PCs. I ran lock-ins every month, plenty of business rolling in and it hadn’t even hit summertime yet. I ended up starting college and the LAN store fell by the wayside with no one available to run it. (yeah like i would let all of those 12 yr olds run it!) I became hooked on World of Warcraft while running the store and still play it casually today.

School

I love?…er school? Ok so going to college was a nice novelty for about a day. After that I have been looking forward to graduation with every waking moment. School is great, some really awesome instructors and I have a group of peers that I don’t mind hanging out with. I originally started in this Interactive Media Design program to get that piece of paper that says I know what i am doing when it come to websites. Alot of classes for me seemed very lacking in new content for me. It wasn’t until about the end of the second year that I started learning new things. I was going to avoid Flash all together until I got into a class that was nothing but actionscript. You mean I don’t have to be handy at the drawing pad to make good use of Flash?! Sign me up! Ever since then I have been working on small Flash projects that are heavy on Actionscript. I like to combine the projects with my PHP (wouldn’t you know!)

Work

Work is work. Right now I am working at the school managing the websites and working the PR angles. My small safari climate of an office is shared with my boss. The amount of projects that go through the office is pretty hard core. They all vary depending on what is going on at the school. Online advertising, graduation, portfolio shows, gallery exhibitions, photo shoots, and the list goes on. No day is the same as the previous. It is very rewarding to finish a project though and the results can usually be seen all over the school.

That’s pretty much me right now, I’ll try and add more to this at some point.
