So I finally made it to China!
Pretty exciting news, I am now living in Liu’An China teaching at a University. I have been wanting to come here for four or five years now. I was given the opportunity through a contact that was looking for an Oral English teacher for this city. After a few months of emails and paperwork I flew from Minneapolis to San Francisco to Hong Kong to Nanjing. From Nanjing my boss Mr. Yan picked me up and we drove 3 hours to Liu’An. The entire travel tome was about 25 hours and the best plane was Cathaway Pacific with really comfortable seats, excellent service, and LCDs in the seats that had movie, tv, and music that you could watch/listen to.
I have been here since last Monday so that’s a week and four days. I had a class the Tuesday after I arrived and the students were great. They all work really hard and are interested in learning English. The night before we had a large informal welcoming dinner which was pretty good. I would have to say that if you are a person that likes to drink, a Chinese dinner with friends is the place to be. The rice wine is pretty strong and after a bottle or so you will be hard pressed to walk straight. And you are expected to drink it like water as it is the custom for a dinner like this.
I will be posting more soon, I hadnt used my website for a while and now is a good excuse to document my new adventures in another country. Hope everyone is well, look for my updated pictures in that section.
